First and foremost, to be a coach he/she must know how to be coached! They must also know that at times they will learn from their players. I believed the longer you've been coached the more ideals you have been exposed to while you were growing. These ideals either resonate with you or turn you off, but being able to be coached through it gives you your "bubble thought moment". One may say, "this isn't my style" or "when I become a coach...." This is wonderful in the sense of knowing players, growth, confidence, IQ, hunger, spirit, etc. based off of your experience with your peers. We all have changed as we grow, some tremendously, some very little, some gradually. Based off of your development and others around you gives you an idea on building your own methods. As a coach we must be able to take some of our own journey and implement it into our own philosophy of coaching. When the time comes to lead your players you will be equipped with the right tools and philosophy because of your own ability to follow. There will be times when leading with our actions is an essential part of motivating. Those that follow you or on the fence, has to see a definitive action(s) or consistent actions that says you are sacrificing something as well. Respect and desire is formed through this and makes your intent less questionable.
